Dear Beverly

You've been on my mind and in my heart.

Just stopped by to say hello.

             (Smile) You remembered me.

Always

Your boys won the second game of the double-header in D.C. yesterday, but St. Louis once again took advantage of an awful Houston team.   Two back in the wild card.   My boys were eliminated from the West last night.

-->
You said to me that you made "a terrible mistake."

I've thought about that moment when peace came to us.   It was, in many ways, a gift; a blessing.

In my heart it wasn't ever about forgiveness, I didn't respond to you in that way.   That would have been so wrong and it was never in my heart.   Instead, I stopped you and said no, you made no mistakes, you have three beautiful children ... they are not mistakes.

You looked at me ... I could see it in your eyes as you thought about those words.   And then the most amazing smile came upon your face and you said simply, "You're right."    Peace was in our hearts in that moment.

If you put conditions upon love, can you truly open your heart to someone?   The word "forgive" was never spoken, that would have been a condition and my heart would have remained closed.

Six beautiful human beings, with hopes and dreams, walk with us today ... you made no mistakes.

And the love I have for my beautiful wife has grown and grown throughout the years that separated the two of us ... you made no mistakes.

Through you I learned to love without conditions; without bargains ... Oh sweet Beverly, you made no mistakes.

I'll leave you with a tune ... I love this artist, he wrote so many wonderful "tunes" (I love how you'd call them "tunes" instead of songs or music).   He too has demons ... taking it one day at a time.

If I knew the way I'd go back home
But the countryside has changed so much
I'd surely end up lost
Half remembering names and faces
So far in the past
On the other side of bridges that were burned once they were crossed

Tell me where
Where does a fool go
When there's none left to listen
To a story without meaning
That nobody wants to hear
Tell me where
Where does a fool go
When he knows there's something missing
Tell me where
Where do I go from here
Where do I go from here

To get back home
Where my childhood dreams and wishes still out number my regrets
Get back to a place where I can figure on the odds
Have a fighting chance to lose the blues
And win my share of bets

Tell me where
Where does a fool go
When there's none left to listen
To a story without meaning
That nobody wants to hear
Tell me where
Where does a fool go
When he knows there's something missing
Tell me where
Where do I go from here
Where do I go from here

Dear Beverly

Just stopped in to say hello.

            Hi Doll.   You remembered me.

Always

Beverly Carvajal

Your boys got rained out in D.C. ... St. Louis beat up on Houston at home, so it's one and half back in the wild card.

            Pfffffffffttttttttttt.

Got a tune for you today ... one of your favorites from Boz Scaggs.   Enjoy.

Outside the rain begins
And it may never end
So cry no more, on the shore a dream
Will take us out to sea
Forevermore, forevermore

Close your eyes and dream[?]
And you can be with me
'Neath the waves, through the cave of hours
Long forgotten now
We're all alone, we're all alone

Close the window, come alight
And it will be all right
No need to bother now
Let it out, let it all begin
Learn how to pretend

Once a story's told
It can't help but grow old
Roses do, lovers too, so cast
Your seasons to the wind
And hold me dear, oh, hold me dear

Close the window, come alight
And it will be all right
No need to bother now,
Let it out, let it all begin
All's forgotten now
We're all alone, all alone

Close the window, come alight
And it will be all right
No need to bother now,
Let it out, let it all begin
Owe it to the wind, my love
Oh, hold me dear

All's forgotten now, my love,
We're all alone, we're all alone

When this album broke you went crazy listening to it over and over again.
"Hey Beverly," I would say, "can we have a little Led Zeppelin, please."

And you say, "No, no, no, no, no, David Bowie is so amazing.
This for awhile and then we can take that stairway to heaven."

Have a tune for you this morning from THAT album.

"Oh no love! you're not alone
No matter what or who you've been
No matter when or where you've seen"

Says it all, doesn't it?

             Thanks Doll.   Interesting Choice.

David Bowie: Rock n Roll Suicide

Time takes a cigarette, puts it in your mouth
You pull on your finger, then another finger, then your cigarette
The wall-to-wall is calling, it lingers, then you forget
Ohhh how how how, you're a rock n roll suicide

You're too old to lose it, too young to choose it
And the clocks waits so patiently on your song
You walk past a cafe but you don't eat when youve lived too long
Oh, no, no, no, you're a rock n roll suicide

Chev brakes are snarling as you stumble across the road
But the day breaks instead so you hurry home
Don't let the sun blast your shadow
Don't let the milk float ride your mind
You're so natural - religiously unkind

Oh no love! you're not alone
You're watching yourself but you're too unfair
You got your head all tangled up but if I could only
Make you care
Oh no love! you're not alone
No matter what or who you've been
No matter when or where you've seen
All the knives seem to lacerate your brain
I've had my share, I'll help you with the pain
You're not alone

Just turn on with me and you're not alone
Lets turn on with me and you're not alone (wonderful)
Lets turn on and be not alone (wonderful)
Gimme your hands cause you're wonderful (wonderful)
Gimme your hands cause you're wonderful (wonderful)
Oh gimme your hands.

Your boys had their shot yesterday and blew it.  Off today.

The schedule maker didn't do you any favors, you are on the road against the best team in baseball (Washington), while the Cards (a game up in the wild card) play the worst team in baseball (Houston).   Hang in there, could be a rocky three day stretch.

              Flip!

Today I thought I would share with you (once again) one of my favorite poems.   I'll have a tune tomorrow.

I am trying so very hard to live by this line,  "don't give way to hating,"

It is so incredibly difficult not to hate someone who couldn't see and celebrate your beauty; your heart; your soul.

If ... by Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;
If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!

Dear Beverly

Just stopped by to say hello.

             Hi Doll, you remembered me!

Always.

You are always on my mind and in my heart.

             Smile.

Good news, your boys beat the Cards and are now tied for the wild card!   Two in the bottom of the ninth ... one to tie, one to win.

             Bigger Smile.

Why could he have not stopped each day to marvel at the treasure that he had?

I celebrated your happiness above all else.
My wife.  My lover.  My friend.

Because of you, I try each day to celebrate the treasure that I have.
See too is my wife.  My lover.   And most of all my friend.

I learned so much from you.   Your kindness.
The sweet way about you.

You remain, in my heart,
that kind and gentle soul
with such a beautiful smile.
You are such a blessing.

You were able to touch my heart and let me open my heart to others.
Thank you so much for your love and your kindness ... I love you.

Got a tune for you today ... The group Bread could have written and performed this for you and I.
I only wish in my heart that all of it were true,
especially, "All the sweet things that she can find  All the sweet things they can find."

http://youtu.be/24IfD-0VUu4

I found her diary underneath a tree.
And started reading about me
The words she's written took me by surprise
You'd never read them in her eyes.
They said that she had found the love she waited for.
Wouldn't you know it, she wouldn't show it.

When she confronted with the writing there,
Simply pretended not to care.
I passed it off as just in keeping with
Her total disconcerting air
And though she tried to hide
The love that she denied,
Wouldn't you know it, she wouldn't show it.

And as I go through my life, I will give to her my wife
All the sweet things that I can find.

I found her diary underneath a tree.
And started reading about me.
The words began stick and tears to flow.
Her meaning now was clear to see.
The love she'd waited for was someone else not me
Wouldn't you know it, she wouldn't show it.

And as I go through my life, I will wish for her his wife
All the sweet things that she can find
All the sweet things they can find

Eponine:

And now I'm all alone again nowhere to turn, no one to go to
without a home without a friend without a face to say hello to
And now the night is near
Now I can make believe he's here

Sometimes I walk alone at night
When everybody else is sleeping
I think of him and then I'm happy
With the company I'm keeping
The city goes to bed
And I can live inside my head

On my own
Pretending he's beside me
All alone
I walk with him till morning
Without him
I feel his arms around me
And when I lose my way I close my eyes
And he has found me

In the rain the pavement shines like silver
All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is him and me forever and forever
And I know it's only in my mind
That I'm talking to myself and not to him
And although I know that he is blind
Still I say, there's a way for us

I love him
But when the night is over
He is gone
The river's just a river
Without him
The world around me changes
The trees are bare and everywhere
The streets are full of strangers

I love him
But every day I'm learning
All my life
I've only been pretending
Without me
His world would go on turning
A world that's full of happiness
That I have never known

I love him
I love him
I love him
But only on my own

Down, down in Hollywood Town
the lost and found come to find their way,
walkin' outside, feelings they hide,
putting their pride through well known paces

Steppin' on stars and shining on cars passin' by,
Their heads are high
but their hearts are lowdown draggin'
as they go reachin' out to those other faces.

Down, down in Hollywood Town
the good time sounds are heard all day but
the nighttime's commin', you're on your own,
lookin' for a place someone to share with.

Waiting in queues to hear the blues,
to find a way from the emptiness,
to be found inside from those who try,
to climb to the image of the TV good guy.

Stranger I know you,
we learned to walk together, lovers,
wondering whether we really are.
I'd like to show you images of sister brother
standing off from one another but not very far.

Down, down in Hollywood Town,
the lost and found come to find their way,
walkin' outside, feelings they hide,
putting their pride through well known paces.

Steppin' on stars and shining on cars passing by,
Their heads are high
but their hearts are lowdown, draggin'
as they go, reachin' out to those other faces.
