Dear Beverly

Just stopped by to say hello.

         You remembered me.

Always.

Beverly Ann Kegley Carvajal

Time change.
It will take a few days to adjust.

Spring is near.
Warmer … looking forward to it.

Have a tune for you today … enjoy.

Link:  Cyndi Lauper: Time After Time

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick,
And think of you
Caught up in circles confusion -
Is nothing new
Flashback - warm nights -
Almost left behind
Suitcases of memories,
Time after -

Sometimes you picture me -
I'm walking too far ahead
You're calling to me, I can't hear
What you've said -
Then you say - go slow -
I fall behind -
The second hand unwinds

If you're lost you can look - and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you - I'll be waiting
Time after time

After my picture fades and darkness has
Turned to gray
Watching through windows - you're wondering
If I'm OK
Secrets stolen from deep inside
The drum beats out of time -

If you're lost you can look - and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you - I'll be waiting
Time after time
If you're lost...

You said go slow -
I fall behind
The second hand unwinds -

If you're lost you can look - and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you - I'll be waiting
Time after time
If you're lost...
...Time after time
Time after time
Time after time
Time after time

Sun is out and cats are happy.
Long day of travel yesterday.

A sad day, but festive.

Have a tune for you today

A fun one … enjoy.

Strawberry shimmer on hot lips,
Silver buckle hangin' off her hips.
I sparkle when she smiles.
Shine down on the radio dial.
Homemade jar, lemmon drop, take a sip.
Don't stop girl, you know I love it when you get your ... shine on!
'Cause you and me be rocking all night long!
Summer sky dripped in rhinestones,
Turn your party lights on,
Baby get your shine on - shine on!

Baby get your shine on!

Silverado, candy painted,
Ray Ban's got the whole world shaded.
Chrome piece tucked in the console,
Riding high, roll up on the down low.
Feeling lucky, got hooked up with some Kentucky, clear.
So slide that little sugar shaker over here...
And get your shine on!
'Cause you and me be rocking all night long!
Summer sky dripped in rhinestones,
Turn your party lights on,
Baby get your shine on - shine on!

Baby get your shine on!

Homemade jar,
Lemon drop take a sip.
Don't stop girl, you know I love it when you get your... shine on!
'Cause you and me be rocking all night long!

Dear Beverly

Beverly Ann Kegley Carvajal

Up early.
Long day.

Have a tune for you … enjoy.

I got this fever
Running through my veins
Keep on trying
But I just can't shake it
All this medicine
That I keep taking
It aint working
I keep hurting
It's something more
What if there's no cure

Pick me up and
Take me back to my bed
Put a cold towel on my head
You said try
Some of this instead
Then you tell me
That it's working
But I'm not sure
What if there's no cure

I've been blind
Since you left
I can see no way out
I've been deaf
Since you left
To any word of hope now
And the scary thing is
It ain’t getting any better
What if there's no cure

I light a candle and
I say a prayer
I might need
A miracle right here
Cause I'm fading and
I feel so scared
I'm disappearing
I used to feel you so much more
What if there's no cure

I've been blind
Since you left
I can see no way out
I've been deaf
Since you left
To any word of hope now
And the scary thing is
It ain’t getting any better
What if there's no cure

I keep trying to pull out
Of this spiral that I'm in
But you are burning up my heart
And you are underneath my skin
They say when you lose it all
That you can't lose it anymore
What if there's no cure

What if there's no cure

I've been blind
Since you left
I can see no way out
I've been deaf
Since you left
To any word of hope now
And the scary thing is
It ain’t getting any better
What if there's no cure

What if there's no cure

There’s no cure.

Beverly Ann Kegley Carvajal, The Henningsens: American Beautiful

Pouring rain.
Cats not happy.

Like you would say, “oh wells.”

Have a tune for you today …
A fun tune, enjoy.

Link:  The Henningsens: American Beautiful

She puts her boots and bandanna on
She has a hankering for Rolling Stones
She likes her vegetables home grown
A lot like the boy waiting out in the truck

She'll take a hill like Roosevelt
Holds up her pants with a Bible belt
She cracks 'em up like a liberty bell
A whole lot of tender and a little bit tough

Ooh, ooh, ooh
She's a little unusual
Ooh, ooh, ooh
She's American beautiful

Well, he is a mutt with a pedigree
Sinatra junkie in a pair of jeans
He pays his dues in the Land of the Free
Says, "Why walk; baby, we were born to fly"

Ooh, ooh, ooh
He's a little unusual
Ooh, ooh, ooh
He's American beautiful

Yeah, yeah, yeah

I saw that girl in a mirror once
With a boy like that in a cloud of dust
I think they look a lot like us
'Cause we are, we are, we are

Ooh, ooh, ooh
We are a little unusual
Ooh, ooh, ooh
We are American beautiful

Yeah, ooh, ooh, ooh
We are a little unusual
Ooh, ooh, ooh
We are American, American, American beautiful

Dear Beverly

-->

Just stopped by to say hello.

           You remembered me.

Always.

Beverly Ann Kegley Carvajal

242D
It is just a place; a symbolic one.

How do we choose to think about it?
What 242D represents?

Does it represent our collective failures
for you and me and all of us
who called you a friend …
your friends who failed
to recognize the pain within you?

Or is it a symbolic place for
those who care
or once cared
or should have cared
to come; to gather; to remember
and celebrate your memory?

If we extend our hand in friendship
do we become our brother’s keeper?

Does it require a greater commitment?

242D
Do we turn our backs and say,
“Oh whoa, oh whoa, oh whoa with us.”
“You failed us; we failed you.”

And then, of course it goes …
“Ashes to ashes; dust to dust.”

It is something for each of
who touched your life to think about.

242D … what does it represent?

Have a tune for you today …

You're not your brother's keeper, now
Your brother's on his own”

And so you were last June … so alone, so all alone.

… enjoy.

Ladies and gents, fold your tents, cos we have a winner
Come see your Jane try to train every devil in her
There's not a man alive who could tame this creature
You better leave the professor behind, see what time will teach her

And when we've all collected a spectacular sum
We'll get a little glimpse of the disaster to come

You can justify what happens then
Cos how could you have known
Leave the dust to dust and say "amen"
Put "sorry" on the stone
You're not your brother's keeper, now
Your brother's on his own
That's how the seeds of avarice are sown

Shit's just a trick and each week's full of compromises
She'll push for a fish like a seal clapping for its prizes
There's not a man alive who could wake this sleeper
Oh, tie the rope, hide the dope, sure's there's hope, but denial's cheaper

And when we've all collected a spectacular sum
We'll get a Holy Roller in to rattle the drum

You can justify what happens then
Cos how could you have known
Leave the dust to dust and say "amen"
Put "sorry" on the stone
You're not your brother's keeper, now
Your brother's on his own
That's how the seeds of avarice are sown

And after the fail, you can wail as they drag the lever
Silence the band, wring the hand that you didn't give her
And every man alive has to sign a waiver
To put a coin in the plate so that fate won't return the favour

You can justify, oh yes you can
You've got the microphone
Tell them dust is dust and men are men
And men all act alone
You're not your brother's keeper, now
Your brother's on his own
That's how the seeds of avarice are sown

Dear Beverly

Just stopped by to say that you are in my heart and on my mind this morning.

         Mi Amor, you remembered me.

Always.

Beverly Ann Kegley Carvajal

A sadness creeps in.
A melancholy day.

Have a tune for you today.

“How dare you?
I miss you”

Was there no other way on that June day?
Was the corner so dark?

Your favorite records make me feel better
Cause you sing along
With every song”

Oh how you did enjoy your tunes,
but they were taken away

Gone forever on a dark day in June.

Enjoy.

Weather man said it’s gonna snow
By now I should be used to the cold
Mid-February shouldn’t be so scary
It was only December
I still remember the presents, the tree, you and me

But you went away
How dare you?
I miss you
They say I’ll be OK
But I’m not going to ever get over you

Living alone here in this place
I think of you, and I’m not afraid
Your favorite records make me feel better
Cause you sing along
With every song
I know you didn’t mean to give them to me

But you went away
How dare you?
I miss you
They say I’ll be OK
But I’m not going to ever get over you

It really sinks in, you know, when I see it in stone

Cause you went away,
How dare you?
I miss you
They say I’ll be OK
But I’m not going to ever get over you

Cloudy.

Your boys play mine today.
Just a spring training game,
but the season draws near.

I hope you are still keeping score.

Have a tune for you today … enjoy.

She was aware of her insecurities as she took the stage
She was convinced if she got up there that she'd be discovered someday

So she belted it
She hit the high notes fearlessly
Oh she melted them, as she brought them to their feet

She was a big star at Banana Joe's bar where
She sang karaoke everynight
She said if you work hard to get where you are it feels good in the hot spot light
She was a big star

She made the local cable shows where the camera fell in love with her face
After a couple of weekends the groupies were crawling all over the place
She signed autographs like she was Garth Brooks in a skirt
and in the aftermath, that small time town was hers

She was a big star at Banana Joe's bar where
She sang karaoke everynight
She said if you work hard to get where you are it feels good in the hot spot light
She was a big star

She doesn't care anymore that her high school girlfriends cut her down
They only thought she entertains is where they are and where she is now

All her old neighbors swear their certain she slept her way to the top
She knows you don't get where your going unless you got something they ain't got

So she sings tonight to 20,000 plus and the young girls scream out loud
Man that could be us
She's a big star as she eats caviar just before she performs every night
She says if you work hard to get where you are it feels good in the hot spot light
She's a big star
She's a big star
