Dear Beverly

Just stopped by to say hello.

           You remembered me.

Always.

Beverly Ann Kegley Carvajal

June gloom in April.
Cat asleep in my lap.
No need to rush outside just yet.

Those nasty Giants beat
your boys 5-3 last night.

Sorry, we won’t talk about mine.
Pitching staff has given up
19 runs in just two games.

Have a tune for you today … enjoy.

Brady was a baseball star
Til he struck out and took his car and drove away
Sissy lost her little boy
Hitch-hiked up to Illinois, so they say

Then it rained so hard that Mary tried
To take her life with suicide
And disappear just like the thunder
You ask around and no-one knows
Where they went or what they do
But you wonder, I know you wonder

Where do they go?
They come here
To drown in their sorrow and cry in their beer
They’re in need of a mindbender
I’m a bartender
At the end of the day
I’m all they’ve got
Hope on the rocks

Charlie’s wife filed for divorce
And Charlie bought a quarter horse and now he's ridin' fences,
Upside down and couldn’t pay
They hauled Sue's mobile home away
And we ain’t seen her since
Larry’s long time fiancé
Got kicked out of the P.T.A.
And moved her kids back east with someone else
All and the ones you used to know
Don’t drop in or say hello
But you ask yourself
I know you ask yourself

Where do they go?
They come here
To drown in their sorrow and cry in their beer
They’re in need of a mindbender
I’m a bartender
At the end of the day
I’m all they’ve got
Hope on the rocks

Where do they go?
They come here
To drown in their sorrow and cry in their beer
They’re in need of a mindbender
I’m a bartender
At the end of the day
I’m all they’ve got
Hope on the rocks

Dear Beverly

Just stopped in to say hello.

           You remembered me.

Always.

Beverly Ann Kegley Carvajal

A melancholy morning.
Don't know why.

Today is much like any other day.
Still, a melancholy morning.

Those nasty Giants ruined
your perfect season last night.

Like you would say, "oh wells."

Have a tune for you today.
It seems to fit the mood.
A melancholy mood; a melancholy morning.

Not really a good way to start the day.
but there you have it.

"why can't you be here
Sometimes I cry sometimes I cry"

So true ... enjoy.

Moments when I could swear
It's like you were just here
Somebody wake me up when we get there
So you'll be here why can't you be here
Sometimes I cry sometimes I cry
I stop holding up and my heart gets stuck
And that might take awhile
Sometimes I cry sometimes I cry
Sometimes I just break down and my tears come round
Like water from the sky
Sometimes I cry

No one knows what might happen
Takes away so much that matters
Images showing up start me thinking
And remembering I'm remembering

Sometimes I cry sometimes I cry
I stop holding up and my heart gets stuck
And that might take awhile
Sometimes I cry talk to you and sigh
Sometimes you still make me laugh
And that helps to pass
All the carrying on
Sometimes I cry

Can't make the puzzle fit like before
We'll have to discuss that a lot more

Sometimes I cry sometimes I cry
I stop holding up and my heart gets stuck
And that might take awhile
Sometimes I cry sometimes I cry
Sometimes I just break down and my tears come round
Like water from the sky

Sometimes I cry

Sometimes I cry

Sometimes I cry

Dear Beverly

Just stopped by to say that you are in my heart and on my mind this day.

            Mi Amor, you remembered me.

Always.

Beverly Ann Kegley Carvajal

The sun was out.
Nice view; quiet.

Nice chat, even if the conversation
was just a little one sided.

You had to know
that you were loved.

Not just by me,
but by others as well.

You didn't have to say goodbye,
there must have been another way.

Your boys beat those nasty
Giants 4 - 0 to begin their season.

You would have been so happy.

Have a tune for you today ...

"I just really miss you, I just really miss you"

Enjoy.

There's a dark cloud hanging over my heart
I can't see where it ends, or where it starts.
I should get over you, but baby, it's so hard,
with this dark cloud hanging over my heart.

There's a sad song ringing in my head.
Baby, it's been here ever since you left.
I should be moving along how far would I get
with this sad song ringing in my head.

I just really miss you, I just really miss you,
There's a life I can't ask you to leave.
I just really miss you, right now I kinda want to.
The closest that you'll ever be to me
is free.

There's a hard wind blowing through this town.
And nothing left to hold is pushing me down.
It blows over you and me without a sound.
There's a hard wind blowing through this town.

I just really miss you, I just really miss you,
There's a life I can't ask you to leave.
I just really miss you, right now I kinda need to.
The closest that you'll ever be to me
is free.

Now it's one more night at the upside down,
it's ten steps in, and hundred miles back out.

I just really miss you, I just really miss you,
There's a life I can't ask you to leave.
I just really miss you, right now I kinda need to.
The closest that you'll ever be to me
is free.

There's a dark cloud hanging over my heart.....

Your Dodgers begin their season today.

Long day ... road trip.

Well, a-beat the drum and hold the phone
The sun came out today
We're born again, there's new grass on the field
A-roundin' third and headed for home
It's a brown-eyed handsome man
Anyone can understand the way I feel

Oh, put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Look at me, I can be centerfield

Well, I spent some time in the Mudville Nine
Watching it from the bench
You know I took some lumps, when the mighty Case struck out
So say hey, Willie, tell the Cobb
And Joe DiMaggio
Don't say it ain't so, you know the time is now

Oh, put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Look at me, I can be centerfield

Yeah, I got it, I got it

Got a beat-up glove, a home-made bat
And a brand new pair of shoes
You know I think it's time to give this game a ride
Just to hit the ball, and touch 'em all
A moment in the sun
It's a-gone and you can tell that one good-bye

Oh, put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Look at me (yeah), I can be centerfield

Oh, put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Look at me, gotta be, centerfield
Yeah

Dear Beverly

Just stopped by to say that you are in my heart this Easter morning.

           You remembered me.

Always.

Beverly Ann Kegley Carvajal, Beverly Kegley

Long day ... lots to do.
Baseball season begins tomorrow,
everyone is in first place with high hopes.

Sort of like life ... we begin with high hopes.

Have a tune for you today

"I’ve cussed, I’ve prayed, I’ve said goodbye
Shook my fist and asked God why
These days when I’m missing you this much" ... enjoy.

Link:  Lee Brice: I Drive Your Truck

Eighty-Nine Cents in the ash tray
Half empty bottle of Gatorade rolling in the floorboard
That dirty Braves cap on the dash
Dog tags hangin’ from the rear view
Old Skoal can, and cowboy boots and a Go Army Shirt folded in the back
This thing burns gas like crazy, but that’s alright
People got their ways of coping
Oh, and I’ve got mine

I drive your truck
I roll every window down
And I burn up
Every back road in this town
I find a field, I tear it up
Til all the pain’s a cloud of dust
Yeah, sometimes I drive your truck

I leave that radio playing
That same ole country station where ya left it
Yeah, man I crank it up
And you’d probably punch my arm right now
If you saw this tear rollin’ down on my face
Hey, man I’m tryin’ to be tough
And momma asked me this morning
If I’d been by your grave
But that flag and stone ain’t where I feel you anyway

I drive your truck
I roll every window down
And I burn up
Every back road in this town
I find a field, I tear it up
Til all the pain’s a cloud of dust
Yeah, sometimes I drive your truck

I’ve cussed, I’ve prayed, I’ve said goodbye
Shook my fist and asked God why
These days when I’m missing you this much

I drive your truck
I roll every window down
And I burn up
Every back road in this town
I find a field, I tear it up
Til all the pain’s a cloud of dust
Yeah, sometimes, brother sometimes

I drive your truck
I drive your truck
I hope you don’t mind, I hope you don’t mind
I drive your truck

Freeway series.
Season draws near.
Your boys won last night.

New scoreboard at Dodger Stadium.
I hope you are still keeping score.

Have a tune for you today … enjoy.

Maybe I should take that picture off the dashboard
Before her memory hits the brakes and takes the wheel
Yeah I bet she's still crying on that front porch
Yeah, this time it's gonna take some time to heal

Cause I'm on my way to Tennessee
Singing "Georgia On My Mind"
Chasing what they say's a dream
Thinking maybe it ain't mine
Cause that girl's in every song I sing
She's in every song I write
And that six string ridin' in her seat
Won't keep me warm tonight
God what am I supposed to do?
There's more than miles in my rearview

Well, I'm headed north to what I swore I wanted
And trying not to buy into my doubts
But I just can't seem to keep myself from wondering
Why I'm jealous of all them headlights headed south

Cause I'm on my way to Tennessee
Singing "Georgia On My Mind"
Chasing what they says a dream
Thinking maybe it ain't mine
Cause that girl's in every song I sing
She's in every song I write
And that six string ridin' in her seat
Won't keep me warm tonight
God what am I supposed to do?
There's still more than miles in my rearview

Yeah, more than miles
Yeah, I've been changing lanes without my mirrors
Cause every time I look behind me I see her
I think I just realized how much I need her (damn)

So I'm turning back for Georgia
Stopping short of Tennessee
I can't put my dreams before her
Man, I need her with me
Cause that girl's in every song I sing
She's in every song I write
And that six string ridin' in her seat
Can sleep in the back tonight
Now I know what I'm supposed to do, yeah
There's still more than miles in my rear view

More than miles, yeah
More than miles

Dear Beverly

Just stopped by on this Good Friday to say hello.

          Oh Doll, you remembered me.

Always.

Beverly Ann Kegley Carvajal

You boys start playing baseball on Monday.
Every game played will, in some small way,
remind me of you and how much
you loved your Los Angeles Dodgers.

Have a tune for you today.

“And in the morning you can tell me your dreams
You know I've seen it before
This mist that covers your eyes
You've been looking for something that's not in your life”

And the morning came, and there were no dreams to speak of.
So sad … so true.

… Enjoy.

Come on baby, let's get out of this town
I got a full tank of gas
With the top rolled down
There's a chill in my bones
I don't want to be left alone
So baby you can sleep while I drive

I'll pack my bag and load up my guitar
In my pocket I'll carry my harp
I got some money I saved, enough to get underway
And baby you can sleep while I drive

We'll go through Tucson up to Santa Fe
And Barbara in Nashville says we're welcome to stay
I'll buy you boots down in Texas, a hat from New Orleans
And in the morning you can tell me your dreams
You know I've seen it before
This mist that covers your eyes
You've been looking for something that's not in your life
My intentions are true, won't you take me with you
And baby you can sleep while I drive

Oh is it other arms you want to hold you
The stranger, the lover, you're free
Can't you get that with me
Come on baby let's get out of this town
I've got a full tank of gas
With the top rolled down
If you won't take me with you
I'll go before night is through
And baby you can sleep while I drive
