Dear Beverly

Just stopped by to say hello.

         You remembered me.

Always.

Beverly Ann Kegley Carvajal

June gloom again today.
Don’t matter to the cats.
Out they go to celebrate the day.

Have a tune for you today …
A sad, sad country song …
That kind of day …
Enjoy.

Amarillo by morning, up from San Antone.
Everything that I've got is just what I've got on.
When that sun is high in that Texas sky
I'll be bucking it to county fair.
Amarillo by morning, Amarillo I'll be there.

They took my saddle in Houston, broke my leg in Santa Fe.
Lost my wife and a girlfriend somewhere along the way.
Well I'll be looking for eight when they pull that gate,
And I'm hoping that judge ain't blind.
Amarillo by morning, Amarillo's on my mind.

Amarillo by morning, up from San Antone.
Everything that I've got is just what I've got on.
I ain't got a dime, but what I got is mine.
I ain't rich, but Lord I'm free.
Amarillo by morning, Amarillo's where I'll be.
Amarillo by morning, Amarillo's where I'll be.

June gloom in April.
It will burn off … nice day ahead.

Miss you.

I am blessed in many ways.

Have a tune for you today … enjoy.

"You can be amazing"

That was the message
... and a tune.   Simple.

Why was it such a threat?

"You can be amazing"

You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody’s lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing’s gonna hurt you the way that words do
And they settle ‘neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

Everybody’s been there, everybody’s been stared down
By the enemy
Fallen for the fear and done some disappearing
Bow down to the mighty
Don’t run, stop holding your tongue
Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live
Maybe one of these days you can let the light in
Show me how big your brave is

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

Innocence, your history of silence
Won’t do you any good
Did you think it would?
Let your words be anything but empty
Why don’t you tell them the truth?

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you

Dear Beverly

Just stopped by to say hello.

          You remembered me.

Always.

Beverly Ann Kegley Carvajal

It’s a simple thing.
Nothing complicated.

Just a promise.
That’s all.

My promise.

You were never alone.
But you thought you were.

Dying of congestive heart failure,
but not being treated.
You didn't even know;
just take another pill ... you're confused.

Not even diagnosed,
otherwise you would have been
in the emergency room.

Pills, pills and more pills.
Warehoused and nothing more.

Looking back I get so angry.
Let it go.
Let it go.
Let it go.

Just remember; celebrate.
Celebrate a life; your life.
Celebrate.

Have a tune for you today … enjoy.

You're still the brightest star
that lights up my midnight sky
Every time I think about you
I laugh right after I cry

You're everywhere I turn
and your every girl I see walkin' by
And everyone says I'll get over you
It just takes time

I've done everything
To try and let go
I've done all that I can do

I'm missing you
I miss your every move
without you around
I feel my world coming down
I'm missing you
I'm thinking all I can do
is keep movin' on
And maybe you'll see you're wrong
For leavin' me
And did you know that every night
When I fall asleep
Every one of my dreams
Involve kissin' you
And everyday I'm awake
I'm missing you

I talk on the street
And I can barely speak my name
Just one thought about you
And I forget what I have to say

I reach for the phone
But I know i'm only an old flame
It would be a tough call
But after all I'm the one who's to blame

Nothing I've tried
Can get you out of my mind
Theres nothing that I can do

I'm missing you
I miss your every move
without you around
I feel my world coming down
I'm missing you
I'm thinking all I can do
is keep movin' on
And maybe you'll see you're wrong
For leavin' me
And did you know that every night
When I fall asleep
Every one of my dreams
Involve kissin' you
And everyday I'm awake
I'm missing you

I'm missing you
I miss your every move
I'm not strong enough
To let go of your love
But girl it's true
That somehow I keep holding on
Even though you're long gone

Dear Beverly

Just stopped by on this beautiful spring day to say that your memory is cherished.

           Mi Amor, you remembered.

Always.

Beautiful day.
A perfect day.

We won’t talk about your boys.
They are in a race to the bottom with mine.

Long season,
be thankful for this beautiful day.

Sad that you are not here to enjoy it.
Sad, so incredibly sad.

Do I hear an “oh wells” in the breeze?
Thought I did; I’m sure I did.

Have a tune for you today … enjoy.

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere
Going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Mad world
Mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
And to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen
Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me
No one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cos I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Mad world
Mad world

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cos I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Halargian world
Mad world

Dear Beverly

Just stopped by to say hello.

         You remembered me.

Always.

Beverly Ann Kegley Carvajal, Beverly Carvajal, Matisyahu: One Day

A beautiful spring morning.

You know, it sits there, like a cancer.

The anger.

The sadness.

It is so hard not
to give way to hate; hating.

How does one forgive
the unforgivable?

Working on it ... working on it.

Have a tune for you today ... enjoy.

Sometimes I lay
Under the moon
And thank God I'm breathing
Then I pray
Don't take me soon
'Cause I am here for a reason

Sometimes in my tears I drown
But I never let it get me down
So when negativity surrounds
I know some day it'll all turn around because...

All my life I've been waiting for
I've been praying for
For the people to say
That we don't wanna fight no more
There will be no more wars
And our children will play
One day
One day
One day
One day
One day
One day

It's not about
Win or lose
Because we all lose
When they feed on the souls of the innocent
Blood-drenched pavement
Keep on moving though the waters stay raging

In this maze you can lose your way (your way)
It might drive you crazy but don't let it faze you no way (no way)

Sometimes in my tears I drown (I drown)
But I never let it get me down (get me down)
So when negativity surrounds (surrounds)
I know some day it'll all turn around because...

All my life I've been waiting for
I've been praying for
For the people to say
That we don't wanna fight no more
There will be no more wars
And our children will play
One day
One day
One day
One day
One day
One day

One day this all will change
Treat people the same
Stop with the violence
Down with the hate

One day we'll all be free
And proud to be
Under the same sun
Singing songs of freedom like
One day
One day

All my life I've been waiting for
I've been praying for
For the people to say
That we don't wanna fight no more
There will be no more wars
And our children will play
One day
One day
One day
One day
One day
One day

Dear Beverly

Just stopped by to say hello.

            You remembered me.

Always.

Beverly Carvajal, Beverly Ann Kegley Carvajal

Beautiful day ahead.
I am blessed.

The warmth of the
sunshine on my shoulders.
I am blessed.

Have a tune for you today
from your boy … enjoy.

I was always the crazy one
I broke into the stadium
And I wrote your number on the 50 yard line
You were always the perfect one
And the Valedictorian so
Under your number I wrote "call for a good time"

I only wanted to catch your attention
But you overlooked me somehow
Besides you had too many boyfriends to mention
And I played my guitar too loud.

How do you like me now?
How do you like me now,
Now that I'm on my way?
Do you still think I'm crazy
Standin’ here today?
I couldn’t make you love me
But I always dreamed about living in your radio
How do you like me now?

When I took off to Tennessee
I heard that you made fun of me
Never imagined I'd make it this far
Then you married into money girl
Ain’t it a cruel and funny world?
He took your dreams and tore them apart.

He never comes home
And you’re always alone
And your kids hear you cryin’ down the hall
Alarm clock starts ringin’
Who could that be singin’
It’s me baby, with your wake up call!

How do you like me now?
How do you like me now,
Now that I'm on my way?
Do you still think I'm crazy
Standin’ here today?
I couldn’t make you love me
But I always dreamed about living in your radio
How do you like me now?

Tell me baby...
I will free tone on...

Dear Beverly

Just stopped by to say hello.

      Oh Doll, you remembered me.

Always.

Beverly Ann Kegley Carvajal

Sweep!!!   I’ll say no more.

I was struck by the
incredible sadness of it all
as I listened to the game
on the way home last night.

I just want to curl up
into a ball and cry sometimes.

Let it go, I tell myself.
Let it go.
Let it go.

Have a tune for you today … Enjoy.

Winding your way down on Baker Street
Light in your head and dead on your feet
Well, another crazy day
You'll drink the night away
And forget about everything
This city desert makes you feel so cold
It's got so many people, but it's got no soul
And it's taken you so long
To find out you were wrong
When you thought it held everything

You used to think that it was so easy
You used to say that it was so easy
But you're trying, you're trying now
Another year and then you'd be happy
Just one more year and then you'd be happy
But you're crying, you're crying now

Way down the street there's a light in his place
He opens the door, he's got that look on his face
And he asks you where you've been
You tell him who you've seen
And you talk about anything
He's got this dream about buying some land
He's gonna give up the booze and the one-night stands
And then he'll settle down
In some quiet little town
And forget about everything

But you know he'll always keep moving
You know he's never gonna stop moving
'Cause he's rolling, he's the rolling stone
And when you wake up, it's a new morning
The sun is shining, it's a new morning
And you're going, you're going home
